Otto Beneke Stiftung e.V. - non-profit organization helping migrants integrate in Germany. Today the main program of the fund is Garantiefonds Hochschule, which helps you obtain an entrance qualification to higher education institutions in Germany or start/continue your studies at a university.
The Foundation cooperates with ministries, educational institutions, migrant associations and universities in the country and abroad. The goal is to give program participants the opportunity to realize their potential.
Garantiefonds Hochschule - a network of offices throughout Germany under the auspices of the Otto Benecke Foundation. The unit supports migrants who wish to qualify for university admission in Germany (Abitur), continue a higher education course started in their country of origin, or start a course of study. The Foundation provides language courses B2-C1 from carefully selected language schools, as well as preparatory courses in mathematics, computer science, medicine, MINT.
If you want to study in Germany, you must demonstrate the required language skills. The foundation provides language courses throughout the country in various language schools.
Before training, an entrance test for level B1 is conducted. During your studies you will be paid a free stipend in the amount of 482 € and housing subsidy up to 350 € (for 2024).

- Requirement: knowledge of German language level B1.
- Location: nationwide
- Duration: 5 to 8 months
- Goal: German language level C1 (for learning)
- Language courses for exams
- Requirement: knowledge of German language level C1.
- Location: nationwide
- Duration: 1 to 2 months
- Purpose: TestDaF, Telc C1 Hochschule or DSH (to apply for training)
- English courses up to B2
- Requirement: knowledge of German language level C1; Level of English proficiency A2; necessary for study
- Location: nationwide
- Duration: 5 to 8 months
- Goal: English language proficiency level B2.
It doesn't matter if you choose the program Sonderlehrgang, Studienkolleg or HZB-Kurs to obtain Abitur - the fund will continue to pay scholarships, pay semester fees (on request) and advise you about your studies. The BAföG is deducted from your scholarship amount.
Garantiefonds Hochschule helps young migrants to 30 years, which belong to the following groups:
- Late settlers (§ 4 BVFG), their spouses and children (§ 7 Abs. 2 BVFG), as well as other family members (§ 8 Abs. 2 BVFG) and reunited partners (§ 28 Abs. 1 Satz 1 Nr. 1 AufenthG)
- Verified asylum seekers (§ 25 Abs. 1 AufenthG), their partners and children (§ 29 Abs. 2 und Abs. 3, 30, 32, 34 und 36a AufenthG)
- Refugees (§ 25 Abs. 2 AufenthG) or persons with additional protection (§§ 3 Abs. 1 oder 4 Abs. 1 AsylG), as well as their spouses and children (§ 29 Abs. 2 und Abs. 3, 30, 32, 34 and 36a AufenthG)
- Persons with a residence permit under §§ 22, 23 and 24 AufenthG, as well as their spouses and children (§ 29 Abs. 2 und Abs. 3, 30, 32, 34 und 36a AufenthG)
The Otto Benecke Foundation not only provides language and preparation courses for university entrance in Germany, but also advises on educational issues, including Ausbildung.
