Kfz-Versicherung - motor vehicle insurance in Germany. There are three types of insurance:

Automobile liability

– liability to third parties. Compulsory insurance that covers damage you cause to other road users. An analogue of the MTPL policy.

Partial coverage

- recommended minimum. Partial CASCO, including coverage for damage to your own car. For example:

  • damage due to fires, explosions;
  • theft or theft;
  • hail, floods and other natural disasters;
  • short circuit, if the damage was not due to the connection of third-party devices with a damaged cable.
  • collisions with wild animals and damage from martens.

Fully comprehensive

– full insurance, analogous to CASCO. Includes Teilkasko items, plus damage caused to your vehicle due to your fault is insured. Besides:

  • cover in case of vandalism;

Additional option:

Schutzbrief

– evacuation and roadside assistance service in case of an accident/breakdown. Applies to the vehicle, regardless of the driver. The service will repair minor damage on site.

If the accident occurred at a distance of more than 50 kilometers from home and the car cannot be immediately repaired or was stolen, the insurance company will reimburse travel expenses (taxi, train, plane, car rental), pay for a hotel room. If you are abroad, the service covers the cost of sending spare parts or transporting a broken car to your place of residence.

After choosing a suitable insurance company, we issue eVB number – electronic proof of insurance number, which will be needed to register the car in Germany. Its presence confirms that the vehicle has the necessary insurance coverage. It does not need to be paid separately - everything is included in the cost of future insurance. eVB-Nummer is considered valid for up to 12 months without activation and approximately 2 weeks after activation.

Important! As long as the electronic insurance confirmation number (eVB-Nummer) is not used, for example, to register a car, it is possible to choose another company or not conclude a contract at all. The use of eVB confirms the intention and it is necessary to draw up a contract with the selected insurance company.

Required documents for recognition of accident-free work experience

Certificate of accident-free driving in your home country from your insurance company (or insurance companies) - with the list and terms of each year of insurance. We will agree on it and then inform you of the result. You will also need original certificates and translations of them.

What documents do you need to carry with you in the car?

You need to carry your insurance policy with you - in case of an accident, the police will need the name of the insurance company and the insurance policy number. It is important to have with you documents confirming your right to drive a car (driver's license) and vehicle registration (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I).

I got into an accident, what should I do?

  1. Stop. In Germany, as in any other country, you need to stop after an accident. Not stopping is considered a crime.
  2. Keep it safe. If it is safe to do so, get out of the vehicle and put up a warning triangle at a distance to warn other drivers. Don't forget to wear a reflective vest.
  3. Call for help. If there are casualties, call 112 for an ambulance. Report the incident to the police by calling 110. If the accident is minor and no one was hurt, the police may not come, but you should still call and report.
  4. Information exchange. Exchange contact details and insurance information with others involved in the accident.
  5. Take photos and notes. Write down and record the details of the accident. Take photos and write down information about other people involved in the accident, including their names, addresses, phone numbers, car numbers.
  6. Notify your insurance company. After an accident, contact your insurance company immediately and report the accident. They can help you with the next steps.
  7. Вvisit to the doctor. Even in the absence of visible injuries, consult a doctor just in case.

Please note that these are general recommendations and the steps may vary depending on the specific circumstances of the accident.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here you can try to find your car yourself to indicate HSN & TSN. You can also find this information on the vehicle registration certificate (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I/Teil II).

Don't worry, we can help you find this data. HSN (Herstellerschlüsselnummer) and TSN (Typschlüsselnummer) are unique codes that identify the manufacturer and model of your vehicle. They are required to obtain car insurance in Germany. The price may differ after the policy is issued, since we will select a similar car ourselves (roughly matching the characteristics).

This is an additional option to your auto insurance that offers roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown or other problems with your vehicle. If your car breaks down on the road, then you call and a service comes to you that will help restore the car to working capacity on the spot or tow the car to the service station. Schutzbrief may also include other services such as tire puncture assistance or battery replacement.

International car damage protection. In some countries there is no compulsory auto insurance or the minimum sums insured are much lower than in Germany. Then the Auslandsschadenschutz compensates for the damage within the limits of the coverage agreed in Germany. Or pay the difference in case of insufficient coverage by the insurance company of the guilty party. This option can be useful when traveling abroad, especially to countries with low car insurance requirements. Cost: 10-20 Euro per year.

Driver protection insurance. During an accident, damage caused to passengers is insured, but damage caused to the driver is not. Fahrerschutz is aimed specifically at protecting a driver who has been injured as a result of an accident for which he was at fault. This option can cover the costs of treatment and rehabilitation, as well as compensate for loss of income due to temporary disability.

Auto repair in the partner workshop of the insurer. Choosing a partner workshop can give you benefits such as a repair guarantee and fast service. In addition, choosing an affiliate workshop can give you up to 20% off your insurance premium.

Protection against changes in the payment amount. This additional option helps to keep the SF accident-free after 1 accident per year. This option is not cheap, so you need to consider how beneficial it is for you. It can be useful for drivers with a high accident-free record who want to avoid an increase in the cost of insurance after an accident.

Legal protection: if you want to claim damages after an accident or the compensation is insufficient. It also applies to administrative, legal, criminal law and other violations related to the car. This option can help you get legal help and protection in case of disputes or problems related to the car. Read more in our article. Rechtsschutzversicherung.

Mallorca police is an additional coverage for car rentals abroad. In the event of claims, it provides protection at the level of insurance limits in Germany. Thus, you receive a policy. This option can be useful for those who often rent cars abroad and want to have extra protection.

This is a liability to third parties. Compulsory insurance covering damage caused by you to other road users. An analogue of the OSAGO policy. This insurance is compulsory for all car owners in Germany and covers the costs of damages caused to other people or their property as a result of an accident.

This is the recommended minimum. Partial CASCO, including coverage for damage to your own car. For example:

  • damage due to fires, explosions;
  • theft or theft;
  • hail, floods and other natural disasters;
  • short circuit, if the damage was not due to the connection of third-party devices with a damaged cable.
  • collisions with wild animals and damage from martens.

This is full insurance, an analogue of CASCO. Includes Teilkasko points, plus insurance for damage caused to your vehicle through your fault. In addition: cover in case of vandalism.

No, because Teilkasko is the main part of Vollkasko. Vollkasko includes all Teilkasko covers as well as additional options to protect your vehicle.

After selecting a suitable insurance company, we issue an eVB-Nummer, an electronic insurance confirmation number that is required to register a car in Germany. Its presence confirms that the vehicle has the necessary insurance coverage. It does not need to be paid separately - everything is included in the cost of future insurance.

You can get the eVB-Nummer through our website or by contacting us directly:

If you want to change your insurance company after registering your car, you can contact us and we will help you find the best deal. Send us the insurance policy number, the insurance policy itself and fill out the form here. We will send you an offer and then change your insurance.

You now have minimal protection after using the eVB number. Send us the documents for the car, we will send an application to the insurance company and there will be a full car insurance. We will help you choose the most suitable type of insurance for you and arrange a policy.

You must send us the Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I (little green booklet) and we will complete the auto insurance process. This document contains information about your car and is required for issuing a policy.

Usually the issuance of the policy occurs within 3-4 days. You will receive the policy by regular and e-mail. We may also email you a copy of the policy for your convenience.

Go to your insurance company's website, search for "Schaden", fill out the form. If you have any questions write to us! We will help you complete the form and submit your claim for damages.

Write to us, we will send the documents to the insurance company (you need: last name / first name, date of birth, date of issue of the first rights). We will help you add an additional driver to your policy and let you know if the price has changed.

A deductible reduces the cost of an insurance policy. Let's say you have a deductible of 150 euros for a partial helmet, the damage due to the incident was 900 euros. You will pay 150 euros and the rest is insured. The deductible allows you to reduce the amount of the annual insurance payment, but in the event of damage, you will have to pay part of the costs yourself.

Necessarily! Write us the address, we will send the data to the insurance. Changing your address may affect the cost of your insurance, as the risks may vary depending on where you live.

When the policy arrives, the date of payment will be there. Typically, payments are made annually or monthly, depending on the terms of your policy.
