DAX (Deutscher Aktienindex) - the most important stock index in Germany. The index is calculated as the capitalization-weighted average of the share prices of the largest 30 joint-stock companies in Germany.
DAX was created on July 1, 1988. Calculated by the company Deutsche Borse AG.
The list is not permanent. New companies are added to the list, displacing old ones.
But there are 13 companies that have been in this index since 1988 to this day.
The DAX is sometimes called the GER30, as we described above the DAX, the most important stock market in Germany.
The index takes into account dividend income received on shares, assuming that the dividend is reinvested in the share on which the dividend was received. Thus, the index reflects the total return on capital.
From September 2021, it is planned that 40 companies will be present in the DAX, not 30.
