First - facts and laws, and at the end of the post - our personal story.
All aspects related to child labor are regulated by the Youth Labor Protection Act (Jugendarbeitsschutzgesetz – JArbSchG).
✅ From 13 years old, not difficult work is allowed. For example, newspaper delivery, teaching, dog walking. Work is allowed only from 8:00 to 18:00, and only with parental consent. Maximum, you can work no more than 2 hours a day, in agriculture up to 3 hours a day.
✅ Teenagers 15 years of age and older can work full time, except weekends. But no more than 4 weeks during the holidays during the year. You can already work by profession: as a baker, in a store, on a conveyor belt.
✅ Exception: Children from 3 to 13 years old can work in theater, cinema, advertising or modeling. Work at this age requires various approvals, both with the school, the doctor, and with the supervisory authorities.
✅Any work should not be dangerous for the child and should not interfere with school.
✅ Small housework is allowed at any age and can be rewarded.
And now our personal story. Our daughter has been asking for a part-time job since she was 12 years old. And with regret I learned that in Germany it is allowed to work from the age of 13. A year later, she got a job delivering newspapers and bought herself a game console for € 290. She earned this amount in one summer, working 3-4 hours a week. She is very proud that she was able to buy herself what she wanted.

      Parental consent must be required.
As for social benefits, also be sure to check with Jobcenter so that there are no problems with income/social assistance.
